Duramen Prize Tourney For October 20, 2004

Winner: Earl Sir Strider

Comments:
It’s a breezy October evening and the final prize tourney for this year. The prize tourneys will start back up in January just prior to Ursulmas. Prior to starting the tournament, there was a presentation made of a chainmail camail donated by Roland Ducat of House Persistent. His intention was for the camail to be awarded to the most improved fighter for this season. After multiple discussions, it was decided that Jareth of House Persistent was to recieve the award. His in armor and fighting within one month of seeing the SCA at a fight practice and was fighting people at the May Crown event 4 months later. After the camail was presented, we would hold a double elimination prize tourney with 10 combatants. Their names are as follows: Thomas St. Claire, Ronan MacCormack, Eadric de Lonestone, Kristopher of Duramen, John Wolfstan, Conchobhar MacEoin, Nicklas Des Bjornor, Earl Sir Strider, and Jareth of House Persistent. The finals found a 3 way tie between Earl Sir Strider, Kristopher of Duramen, and John Wolfstan. The list mistress, Liu Xian, decided she wanted to see a 3 way melee bout for determining the winner. After multiple engagements, John found himself paying too much attention to Kristopher and got smashed in the face by Sir Strider. The fighting then found Sir Strider and Kristopher paired up into a flurry of blows and engagements until Earl Sir Strider bested his son Kristopher. The prize for the winner, Earl Sir Strider, was a rubber molded axe head donated by Frederick the Fink. Thanks to all those that helped as well as the populace for provided encouragement for us to do our best. Hope to see you all back in January. Thanks, John Wolfstan
