Roland Ducat (mka. Jason Kelsch)

Roland Ducat is a general member of Duramen. Introduced to the house and the SCA by Shae a member since 1997. I'm engaged to the lovely and talented Missa Hendrich. I am a fighter and a craftsman, although I seem to find myself doing more crafts than fighting. I aspire to be a knight and laurel in the SCA, and it may take me a while but it will happen.

My current hobby, bordering on a career is chainmaille. I've made 2 hauberks, one stainless steel one galvanized, both 14 guage 3/8th's ID(inner diameter). I have made about 6 camails using galvanized and stainless steel as well as inlays of brass and bronze. Currently I'm starting in on rivetted maille, using a larger ID and thinner wire to make stronger, lighter pieces of armor, I only have one more tool I have to make to peen the rivets. Eventually I want to try case hardening the mild steel to make it even stronger and more resistant to individual ring warping with no extra weight. I'm in the process....going on 2 years now I think.... of writing a chainmaille article for the articles section. Everytime I start writing it I get ideas of what else I can put in it, then I have to wait until I've finished whatever research I was doing. Current idea is weapon testing to compare butted stainless vs. rivetted mild steel. I guarantee that when I finally do finish my article it'll be the most indepth and impressive peice of work on the subject out there(as far as I know). I hope to be vastly copied...as they say imitation is the greatest for of flattery.

I'm also the Admin/Webmaster/Support/whatever else for this website so be nice to me :).

This is a very old picture from An Tir-West War.

Another older picture, playing Spear the Beer at Estrella War 2000(?)

One example of a camail with an inlay pattern I did.

This is a chard from my device done in stainless steel and brass, it has a bronze half persian border around it.
